Known as Kitty to almost everyone, few people know that Jaya is my middle name, and I love that I get to use it for something fun now.

Made By Jaya is a small, independent clothing brand, born from a love of sewing, sunshine, and practical beauty.

Every dress is handmade by me, using lightweight or medium-weight Indian cotton that’s breathable, soft, and easy to wear— perfect for long, hot days and muddy farm paths alike. Whether I’m chasing chickens or heading into town, I live in mine.

I’ve always loved being creative, but it wasn’t until I was gifted a sewing machine for my 21st that I truly taught myself to sew properly.

Since then, I’ve poured my heart into designing dresses that feel joyful, easy to
wear, and just a little bit romantic.

I grew up moving around the world and have been lucky to live in places like Oman and Pakistan. That time had a big impact on me—the colours, fabrics, and styles that I saw there still inspire what I make
now.

I work full-time in London as a physiotherapist, but my heart lies in the Dorset countryside by the sea.

I sew each piece by hand, whether in my Balham flat, or from my parents' cottage —usually with muddy boots just out of frame.

I’m still new to all this, and a little shy, but I absolutely adore these dresses. They’re a reflection of all the places I’ve called home and I hope you find something here you enjoy wearing.
